We’ve got so many amazing women across Norfolk doing incredible things so we’re celebrating them across the month of March. We also have our own inspirational women who work within Norfolk Chambers of Commerce, and we're shining the light on them too. Haze Carver is The Zinger and Digital Content Manager.
What one piece of career advice would you give to the 20-year-old you?
When you have ideas and opinions, don't sit in silence because you're afraid they won't be right. Chances are they're really, really good and you'll only regret not saying it first!
Who is your female role model?
The Creative Director of the design studio I first worked in was an incredible force! Whilst being brilliantly creative, supportive, kind, and always empowering, she was also an amazing mother. Somehow she juggled everything, and I thought - 'yes, I want to be just like that!'
What was your career goal when you were young?
When I was 7 years old, I dug up bones in our back garden and sent them to the Castle Museum - they wrote back and sent a report saying they were 50-year-old dog bones! I studied Classical Civilisation and I really wanted to be an Archeologist. What's better than digging in the sand for treasures?
What’s your biggest career achievement to date?
I think it's a very creative and movable achievement in that, whichever role I take on, my creative core pushes me to always try new directions! The job I originally joined for, morphs into something completely different and exciting. When you work with brilliant people within a business who give you space to build on your strengths - you have a strong and resilientteam.
What have your biggest challenges been as a woman in business?
For me personally working within the creative industry, it's always been about the ideas and the design - they either worked or they didn't. It never felt that any decisions were anything to do with my gender, so in that respect I have been very fortunate.
However, both my partner and I continue to empower and encourage our 12-year-old daughter, and our 7-year-old son to be whatever, and whoever they want to be as they grow, both personally and one day soon, professionally. Diversity should be celebrated and encouraged.
