The BUILD Charity is an independent Norfolk based registered charity providing social, leisure and learning opportunities for anyone, with any disability, aged over 16 in Norfolk. Established in 1967, BUILD supports small groups through around 300 community based activities in Norfolk’s bars, clubs, restaurants, bowling alleys, theatres, cinemas and cultural attractions as well as a range of outdoor activities such as coast, countryside and city walks, and manages an allotment project in north east Norwich. In addition the GetAways programme supports people to access days out, short breaks and holidays, or design their own programmes.
On top of this BUILD organises “Skills for Life” workshops helping people become more independent through learning about managing money, personal safety, health and wellbeing, or living independently. Funded entirely through private, corporate and charitable trust grants and donations, and its own community based fundraising activities, BUILD supports and enables people with disabilities to access the kind of social life that most of us take for granted.
