As a charity, the Zoological Society of East Anglia (ZSEA) was directly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic due to closing their two zoos, Banham Zoo in Norfolk and Africa Alive in Suffolk, during numerous lockdowns and losing the vital income which comes from guests visiting the zoos each day.
Following the past 18 months of uncertainty, ZSEA have started moving forward to a recovery phase and are already seeing exciting changes happening within the zoos.
Having received life-saving grants from the governments Zoo Animals Fund, they have been able to make essential upgrades to animal enclosures at both of their zoos, meaning the animals are continued to be kept safe.
The zoos have re-started their conservation projects through the welcoming of new animals for Breeding Programmes, as well as making a step forward in local conservation projects with their recent collaboration with the Norfolk Rivers Trust to project the endangered native White-clawed crayfish.
To continue their inspiring work, ZSEA need the continued support of the community through guests visiting their two fantastic zoos, individuals creating fundraising events for the charity, or simply donating to their fundraising page: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/zsea
