Ormiston Families works across Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Essex and Bedfordshire to run a diverse range of services for children, young people, and families to improve mental health, wellbeing, and life chances and to ensure brighter futures for the next generation. For 40 years we have been supporting families experiencing trauma, poor mental health, marginalisation, and lack of access to resources and opportunities. Our work with these families aims to prevent the cycle of negative intergenerational behaviours, improve their mental health, resilience, self-esteem, independence and reduce the chance of future children ending up in the care system, in prison or at risk of harm. By taking early and preventative action we aim to create safe, healthy, and resilient families who feel in control of their own wellbeing.
We provide a growing range of services which help people to build stronger networks, learn from experience and feel in control of their wellbeing:
Breaking Barriers - supporting the wellbeing of children & young people affected by the imprisonment of a close family member
Point 1 & YOUnited - emotional wellbeing services offering professional mental health support to children and young people
The Link – providing mental health advice, support and training to adults who work with children and young people
Small Steps Together – a specialist perinatal mental health service for mums during pregnancy and up to 2 years after birth
YouCanBe and Mpower - wellbeing services for women at risk of or with experience of having a child placed in care
